The Octave on Different Instruments

Every instrument expresses octaves differently, but the principle remains the same.

🎹
Piano
An octave spans 8 white keys. A standard piano has just over 7 octaves.
🎸
Guitar
The 12th fret produces a note one octave above the open string.
🎤
Voice
Most untrained voices cover 1.5–2 octaves. Trained singers may reach 3+.
